Tulare County is required by the State of California to balance its budget every year. This requires balancing incoming revenue (from property taxes, sales and other taxes, federal and state funding, fees and other funds) with outgoing expenses. The County Administrative Officer prepares a Recommended Budget for the Board of Supervisors to review and approve. The Board then makes budget decisions based on a set of budget priorities that are geared to maintaining critical services and keeping our residents safe and thriving.
