There are two types of permits issued from our office, Minor Permits and Regular Permits. Below each permit type is a description and a list of items that we most commonly issue permits for:
Minor Permits are permits that do not require any discretionary approvals or plan review by the county, such as water heaters, wall furnaces, re-roofs, re-siding, and air conditioner replacement. If subsequent to the issuance of a Minor Permit, the Building or Planning Official determines that plans or other reviews are required for the work undertaken, the permit may be suspended or revoked in writing until such time as proper reviews and approvals are obtained.
Regular Permits require a site plan, construction plans, engineering calculations, and energy calculations.
Some examples include demolition of residential property, room additions, alterations to existing structures, and new construction.
