PROPOSITION 64- AUMA-ADULT USE MARIJUANA ACT
At this time, Tulare County is not issuing business licenses for either medical marijuana or recreational marijuana activities.
Interim Ordinance No. 3498, passed by the Board of Supervisors on September 20, 2016, prohibits the establishment of new or expansion of existing medical marijuana entities, including collectives, cooperatives, businesses, or other entities engaged in commercial cannabis activity in the unincorporated areas of Tulare County.
Furthermore, Proposition 64, the “Control, Regulate, and Tax Adult Use of Marijuana Act,” which was passed by voters on November 8, 2016, only permits entities to engage in recreational commercial marijuana operations once an entity has obtained a state license for the activity. The State has not begun issuing licenses, and thus no commercial recreational marijuana activities are permissible in the County at this time.
The Board of Supervisors has the authority to regulate certain medical and/or recreational marijuana activities. Members of the public may consider regularly checking the Board of Supervisor’s agenda to stay informed about any proposed actions relating to marijuana.
