On October 17, 2015 at about 1500 Hrs, Deputies from the Tulare County Sheriff’s Porterville Substation observed a subject in a green Honda civic harassing two juveniles in the area of Morton and “G” Street within the City of Porterville. As Deputies attempted to contact the subject in the vehicle he fled the area in an attempt to avoid contact. In the process of doing so, the suspect collided with a curb and fence causing major damage to the front portion of the vehicle including flattening both front tires. Deputies attempted to initiate a traffic stop in the area of Kanai and “G” Street. Upon doing so they learned the vehicle in question was reported stolen out of the Woodville area. A pursuit ensued reaching speeds of approximately 45 miles per hour. The pursuit continued to the area of Westfield and Elderwood where the suspect’s vehicle lost power and came to a stop. The driver, a 17 Year Old Male Juvenile, identified himself as a gang member and made verbal threats towards deputies. He was taken into custody after a brief struggle. The passenger, a 15 Year Old Female Juvenile, admitted knowledge of the vehicle being stolen and was also taken into custody.
