On 2-16-2015 Deputies from Tulare County Sheriff’s Department responded to a report of animal cruelty. The reporting party advised the suspect, later identified as Angel Navarro 27 yrs old, was beating his adult dog with a large wooden stick while it was tied up.
Upon arrival and contact with the reporting party, the aforementioned dog was found in the suspect’s back yard, dead. The dog was severely wounded, including having been impaled by three metal pipes. The suspect was located and exhibited erratic behavior consistent with being under the influence of a controlled substance. When the suspect was being taken into custody he became combative with Deputies and a physical fight ensued. The suspect was subdued with minimal force, and placed in handcuffs. The suspect was booked at the Adult Pre Trial facility on the above charges.
Animal control responded to the scene and took possession of the deceased dog. Physical evidence was found and collected at the scene.
This case is being investigated by the Tulare County Sheriff’s Department.
