On Tuesday, November 4, Deputies from the Porterville Substation responded to a residence in the 14700 block of Road 191 in Poplar in an attempt to serve an arrest warrant. During their attempt, Deputies observed a Hispanic male matching the physical description of the wanted subject running across the street and through the yard of an adjacent residence. Deputies attempted to contact the subject and observed him to jump a backyard fence with a second unknown individual.

During the chase, Deputies discovered a large marijuana grow in the rear of the residence. Upon further investigation, it appeared as if the subjects who ran were involved in the cultivation of marijuana at the adjacent residence and not the subject wanted in the arrest warrant.

Detectives from the Sheriff Department’s STEP Unit were called and executed a search warrant for the property. Detectives discovered that the property was being used solely for the cultivation and processing of marijuana. Detectives seized 82 fully mature marijuana plants and approximately 40 pounds of processed marijuana. Detectives estimate the total street value of the marijuana at almost $400,000.00 had the marijuana been harvested and processed.

The two suspects are still outstanding at this time. The case remains under investigation by the Sheriff's Department STEP Team.  Anyone with information is encouraged to call Detective J. Gardner at (559) 733-6218 and information can remain anonymous through tcso@tipnow.com.
