Over the past several weeks, Detectives from the Sheriff’s Tactical Enforcement Personnel (S.T.E.P.) team conducted an investigation into several locations in the county regarding power theft.
During the investigation, a search warrant was obtained for 3 properties. With the assistance of the Gang Task Force, and Narcotics Unit the warrants were served.
First property was in the county area north of Visalia, a Suspect was taken into custody for having illegal firearms and high capacity magazines, Erik Martin (34 YOA).
Second Property was in the area of Rd 138 and Ave 232. 2- Suspects were detained at this location, Baltazar Rivas (51 YOA) and Maria Carmen Orosco (28YOA). They were found with 7 firearms, one of which was stolen, 1 lb of Marijuana seeds and 2 lbs of Marijuana shake.
Third property, in the 1100 block of Buena Vista in the city of Visalia, a greenhouse marijuana grow was located. It was also confirmed by Edison that power was being stolen at this location to supply the greenhouse. Four suspects were detained, and found to be tending to the plants and associated with the theft. Jovani Morfin Deniz (20 YOA), Jose Torres Deniz (66 YOA), Joel Torres Delgado (36 YOA) and a male juvenile 16 YOA. In the greenhouse 151 marijuana plants were located.
With the size of the plants seized, Detectives estimated they would produce approximately 1 pound per plant with an illegal street value of $1,000 per puund. If allowed to mature the illegal street value would be $151,000. The theft of power was estimated over $1,000.
This Case is still under investigation and will be forwarded to the District Attorney for review.
