Over the past several weeks, Detectives from the Sheriff’s Tactical Enforcement Personnel (S.T.E.P) and Edison Revenue Protection Investigators, have conducted an investigation into a large Marijuana grow in the Lindsay area.
During the investigation, a search warrant was obtained for the property, north of the city of Lindsay. During the search on Oct. 16, 2015, 361 Marijuana plants were eradicated. Two subjects were detained for the marijuana grow. Further investigation revealed that the operation had been ongoing for the past two years; Revenue Protection Investigators estimated the theft of power was $145,000.00.
While tracking an investigative lead, Detectives contacted a third subject who fled the area in his vehicle. A traffic stop was conducted, the subject was found to have thrown a stolen handgun from his vehicle in an effort to avoid charges. He was arrested without incident; the handgun was recovered near the roadway.
With the size of the plants seized, Detectives estimated they would produce approximately 1 pound per plant with an illegal street value of $1,000 per pound. If allowed to mature the illegal street value would be $361,000.
