On January 30, 2019 around 7:22 p.m., Deputies from the Tulare County Sheriff’s Office were called to the Family Market in the 32900 Block of Road 159 in Ivanhoe for an armed robbery. When they got there, they were told three masked men walked into the store and robbed it while armed with what appeared to be a sawed-off shotgun. During the robbery, the suspects stole cash from the register and merchandise. No one was hurt and no shots were fired. Detectives from the Property Crimes & Ag Crimes Unit responded and took over the investigation.
On February 12, 2019, Detectives were able to identify one of the suspects as 18-year-old Rigoberto Torres Jr. of Cutler. A warrant for his arrest was issued. During a surveillance detail, Detectives were able to catch Torres in the 600 block of S. Lovers Lane in Visalia. He was arrested without incident.
On March 13, 2019 Detectives from the Property Crimes Unit and TAGNET went to the 12500 Block of Avenue 406 in Cutler where they executed a Search Warrant. During the investigation, they arrested a 14-year-old boy who had been implicated in the crime and was also identified as a suspect in the robbery. He was arrested without incident and booked into Juvenile Hall in Visalia.
On March 15, 2019, Detectives finished their investigation with the arrest of the final suspect, who was identified as 20-year-old Librado Luevanos of Cutler. He was arrested at a home in the 2600 Block on N. Wren Street in Visalia during a search warrant by the Sheriff’s Department SWAT Team. Luevanos was believed to be the ring leader of this robbery crew. Both adults were booked into the Tulare County Adult Pre-Trial Facility. All suspects were charged with Robbery and Conspiracy. The case will be submitted to the Tulare County District Attorney’s Office for review.
