On Wednesday, 5-27-15 at approx. 2200 hours, Deputies from the Porterville Substation were dispatched to the 20700 Block of Bibee in Richgrove for a report of shots fired. The preliminary investigation revealed that (S) arrived in the area in his vehicle and a verbal altercation ensued between two suspected rival gang members in the area. The (S) reportedly exited his vehicle and produced a firearm, shooting multiple times towards the suspected rival gang member. No injuries were reported at the time and the both subjects involved fled the scene. Deputies were able to identify the (S) in this case and issued an 836/PC-246.3, PC-186.22. The Suspect was contacted the follow-day by the Porterville Patrol Deputies. The case and the suspect were turned over to TCSO Gang Violence Suppression Unit for further investigation.
The ensuing investigation lead to a search warrant at the (S) residence. After further investigation it was determined the (S) was responsible for the crime and was suspected of being a Northern Gang member. The suspect was subsequently booked at the Adult Pre-Trial Facility for negligent discharge and Gang Crime.
This case is currently under investigation by the Tulare County Sheriff’s Department Gang Violence Suppression Unit.
