Captain Mike Watson was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol early Thursday morning within the city limits of Tulare. He is a 28-year veteran of the Tulare County Sheriff’s Office and has been a Captain for three years.

Because of the arrest, Sheriff Mike Boudreaux placed Captain Watson on paid administrative leave Thursday, pending an internal investigation and outcome from the judicial process.

“This decision was necessary,” Sheriff Boudreaux said.

Questions regarding the investigation of this case should be directed to the Tulare Police Department. Questions regarding the judicial process should be directed to the District Attorney’s Office.

Since this is a personnel matter, no further information can be provided at this time.

As we are in the holiday season, we would like to remind everyone to choose a designated driver and to avoid driving under the influence.
