Traffic Stop Leads Detectives to Heroin, Meth, Cocaine & More than $45,000


On 12-26-2018 at 3:09 p.m., Detectives with the Tulare County Sheriff’s Office Street Crimes Unit were in the area of Ave 48 and State Rd in Earlimart and conducted a traffic stop for a vehicle code violation. The driver, 37-year-old Josue Magdaleno Martinez of Earlimart, was found to be unlicensed. Detectives then searched the vehicle and found a half pound of methamphetamine. Martinez was arrested without incident and booked at the Porterville Substation. He faces fresh charges of Possession of Methamphetamine for Sales, Transportation of a Controlled Substance, Possession of Heroin for Sales and Possession of Cocaine for Sales.

Through follow-up investigation, Detectives were able to establish two homes in the City of Delano as being associated with Martinez. Detectives wrote a search warrant for a home in the 600 block of Lexington and a home in the 400 block of 18th Ave. As a result of the search warrants, Detectives seized approximately five pounds of heroin, one pound of methamphetamine, a quarter pound of cocaine and $45,123 in US Currency. All the items were taken as evidence.
