On 6-30-15 at approx. 0601 hrs. Deputies were dispatched to the area of Rd. 224 and Ave. 174, Porterville regarding a gunshot wound victim.

Upon arrival they located the victim on the side of the road suffering from gunshot wounds to the body. The victim was transported to an area hospital where he is listed in critical but stable condition.

Violent Crimes Detectives responded to the scene and took over the investigation.

On 7-1-15 Tulare County Sheriff’s Violent Crimes Detectives continued their investigation on the above crime. During the extensive investigation Detectives were able to positively identify the above suspects and the vehicle used in the crime.

On 7-2-15 Tulare County Sheriff’s Department Violent Crimes Detectives , Gang Unit and SWAT Team served a search warrant in the 1300 block of Lowry, Porterville where they located and arrested S1 Humberto Camacho Gonzalez for 664-187 PC / 182 PC. An additional search warrant was served in the 1800 block of North Boyles, Porterville however, no other suspects or evidence was located. BOL’s for the remaining two suspects was issued to all surrounding agencies.

On 7-6-15 Tulare County Sheriff’s Deputies with the Porterville Substation made contact with individuals in the Porterville area where they developed evidence and information on the possible location of the remaining two suspects.

Tulare County Sheriff’s Deputies along with Lindsay Police responded to a local motel within the Lindsay city limits where Deputies made visual contact with the suspects inside a room. The suspects forced two females into the room into a bathroom at gunpoint and barricaded themselves in the room.

The Tulare County Sheriff’s Department SWAT Team was activated and while they were in route the two female victims were able to escape. They were unharmed and received no injuries from the incident.

The two female victims were identified as
Hispanic female adult 36 years
Hispanic female adult 27 years


The SWAT Team arrived on scene and a 4 hour standoff ensued. After continual efforts to make contact with the suspects in the room with negative response the SWAT Team made entry and took Jesus Alcarez into custody without any resistance. The third suspect was also located in the room deceased from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head.

Jesus Alcarez was arrested on the initial charges of 664-187 PC / 182 PC with additional charges of 207 PC / 187 PC.
