A preliminary viewing of the dead horse was performed Thursday, Dec. 10, 2015, by Dr. John Adaska at the University of California Davis satellite campus in Tulare. He reports to TCSO that there are no signs of trauma. This quarterhorse colt was not shot, beaten or stabbed and it appears to have been well taken care of.
The Necropsy should be completed late Friday with results available next week.
Detectives are investigating who owns the horse and why it was found with its legs bound in an orchard.

At 1530 hours on Dec. 9, 2015, Deputies responded to a report of a dead horse found in an orchard with its legs bound. Detectives investigated at the scene near Strathmore and continue to investigate the case to find out the cause of death.
The Sheriff's Office has requested the University of California at Davis to assist in determining the cause of death.
At this time, we are investigating leads to determine who owned the horse.
