Suspects:

Arthur Steven Quijas, 18 years old out of the Strathmore area

Hispanic male juvenile, 17 years old out of the Strathmore area

 

During the past four months the Tulare County Sheriff’s Department Violent Crimes Unit continued their investigation in to the above homicide. During those four months Detectives were able to identify Arthur Steven Quijas and a Hispanic male juvenile as the suspect’s responsible for the crime.

On 10-29-15 Tulare County Sheriff’s Violent Crimes Detective’s along with the Tulare County Sheriff’s Department South End Gang Unit Detective’s responded to the Strathmore area where they located both suspects in the 19700 block of Rd.231, Strathmore. Both suspect’s were detained and arrested without incident.

The Hispanic male juvenile was subsequently transported to and booked at the Juvenile Detention Facility for the charge of 187 PC while Quijas was transported to and booked at the Adult Pretrial Facility for 187 PC.

On 7-1-15 Tulare County Sheriff’s Department Violent Crimes Detectives were able to positively identify the victim as Jose Castillo 54 years out of the Strathmore area.

On 7-1-15 an autopsy was conducted on the victim and the cause of death was ruled to be exsanguination due to a single sharp force trauma injury. 

On 06-28-15 at approximately 0448 hrs. Deputies with the Tulare County Sheriff’s Department responded to a residence in the 19700 block of Rd. 231, Strathmore for a report of a stabbing. Upon arrival Deputies located a male subject deceased inside the residence. 

Violent Crimes Detectives responded to the scene and took over the investigation and found the victim obviously deceased with apparent stab wounds to his body. Detectives also found the victim’s vehicle was taken by the unknown suspect(s) and subsequently recovered.
