The State constitution defines a community of interest as a contiguous population which shares common social and economic interests that should be included within a single district for purposes of its effective and fair representation. Communities of interest are given priority consideration in the redistricting process under Redistricting Criteria #4 and the County relies on members of the public to define their communities so that they may be considered when making changes to supervisorial district boundaries.
