Claims

Claims against the County of Tulare are filed with the Clerk of the Board.

Pursuant to Government Code §911.2, claims relating to causes of action for personal injury, wrongful death, property damage, no later than six (6) months after the date of loss or the date damages were incurred. All other claims shall be presented within one (1) year.

Presentation of a false claim is a felony. (Reference: CA Penal Code Section 72)

To file a claim, please complete a claim form. Attach any bills for medical treatment and expenses and any estimates or bills for personal property damage to the completed form.

WHAT HAPPENS NEXT?
Once the Clerk of the Board receives your claim, it will be sent to the County Counsel/Risk Management Department.
 
Risk Management claims staff will then investigate your claim, and you should hear back on the status of your claim within 45 days of the presentation of your claim. Any questions should be directed to the County Counsel Risk Management Department at (559) 636-4950.
