Voter Accessibility Advisory Committee (VAAC)
Improving Access to Voting for All
The Voting Accessibility Advisory Committee (VAAC) is an advisory committee that works in partnership with the Tulare County Registrar of Voters Office to improve voting access for individuals with disabilities. The committee serves as a vital resource by offering input and recommendations on how to better implement federal and state accessibility laws related to the voting process. A key goal of the VAAC is to help ensure that voters with disabilities can cast their ballots independently, privately, and with confidence, without encountering physical, technological, or informational barriers.
Committee Composition:
The VAAC is made up of five (5) at-large representatives from the disability community, serving two-year staggered terms. Members serve on a volunteer basis and are not compensated for their time or mileage.
Purpose and Areas of Focus:
Advise the Registrar of Voters Office on implementing federal and state accessibility laws
Advise the Registrar of Voters Office on potential voting location accessibility issues and propose practical solutions
Recommend improvements to voting materials and services
Assist and advise the Registrar of Voters Office on poll worker training to ensure respectful and effective assistance for voters with disabilities
Enhance community outreach and voter education for people with disabilities
Desired Qualifications:
Knowledge of disability programs and services
Experience with voting equipment and accessibility issues
Skills in communications, training, or digital media
Backgrounds in legal, advocacy, or public policy relevant to elections, voting rights, or accessibility compliance

Tulare County Registrar of Voters Office
5300 W. Tulare Avenue, Suite 105, Visalia
Fourth Thursday of every other month at 10:00 a.m.
(No meetings are held in February, March, April, October, November, or December during even-numbered election years.)
