AB 2471: Professions and vocations: public health nurses - Support

  • Mar 25, 2024

On behalf of the Tulare County Board of Supervisors, I write in support of Assembly Bill 2471 (Patterson), which will eliminate public health nurse certification renewal fees, fostering a more supportive environment for our dedicated healthcare professionals. Given the persistent nursing shortage in our healthcare system, it is imperative that we create an environment conducive to attracting and retaining nursing professionals.

AB 2471 offers a pragmatic solution by simplifying the certification process and eliminating renewal fees and associated penalties. This change not only addresses financial barriers for our nurses, but contributes to our collective effort to alleviate the ongoing healthcare worker shortage.

We urge your consideration of AB 2471, recognizing its significance in strengthening our public health nursing system and enhancing the overall resilience of our healthcare infrastructure. Your support for this initiative will
undoubtedly have a positive impact on our healthcare professionals and the communities they serve.

For these reasons, we respectfully request your support of AB 2471.

Sincerely,

Larry Micari, Chair
Tulare County Board of Supervisors
