We Will be the Difference!
The Tulare County Sheriff’s Office Police Activities League (TCSO PAL WEBSITE ----> (TCSO PAL) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. Our mission is to create safer communities by fostering positive relations between local law enforcement and the young residents residing in the un-incorporated areas of Tulare County by providing youth ages 8 – 18 with mentorship opportunities, sports and recreational activities, and Explorer oriented training.
TCSO PAL realizes the strength of negative peer-influence in a young adult’s life is the strongest during their adolescence. Consequently, early-childhood intervention is critical in deterring young people from engaging in at-risk behavior. For this reason, our organization has successfully operated the Explorer and Junior Explorer programs for over fifteen years at all five substations, mentoring youth, some who have become employees of our agency and surrounding agencies. Recently, TCSO PAL has expanded to include a sport orientated mentoring program at no cost to the parents through the Youth Development unit. The Youth Sports Program is composed primarily of sworn officers and community members who serve as coaches and mentors. In addition, TCSO PAL hosts activities throughout the year to reward and encourage youth participation free of cost. These activities include the PAL Beach Trip, a camping trip to Pismo Beach, a “Fun Day” at the Tulare County Fair, and our annual Christmas Party where approximately 100 bicycles are purchased and gifted to underprivileged youth. To encourage youth and parental involvement TCSO PAL provides access to free transportation to all PAL related events.
We believe by bringing young people under the guidance and influence of positive law enforcement the youth will likely come to respect the laws enforced by police officers. Such respect is crucial to reducing violence, juvenile crime, and gang involvement. At the same time, by connecting young people with programs which challenge the youth mentally, physically, and constructively they develop the necessary coping and critical thinking skills to overcome adversity in life. Thus, creating a long-lasting impact on the youth and community.
