On 2-21-14 at 2148 hours Deputies contacted Norma Otero (49 years of age) during a traffic stop near the intersection of Church and Washington street(s) in Earlimart.  During the traffic stop, Otero was found to be driving under the influence of alcohol and was arrested by the California Highway Patrol.  During the investigation, Otero gave Deputies permission to search her vehicle. 

A search of the car revealed one unloaded .22 caliber handgun in the back seat.  A passenger identified as Gerardo Carrranza was sitting in the back seat where the gun was found.  Both subjects were interviewed, but refused to provide statements.  Otero was arrested and booked by the California Highway Patrol and Carranza was transported and booked at main jail in Visalia.  The case will be submitted to the District Attorney’s Office for review.

The case remains under investigation by TCSO.
