Acting Sheriff Mike Boudreaux is proud to announce the promotion of a new Correctional Lieutenant. Michael Ty Stelow began his career with the Tulare County Sheriff's Department twelve years ago as a Correctional Deputy in March of 2002. Over the past twelve years, the last five of those as a Sergeant following his promotion in December of 2009, Stelow has worked at the Main Jail facility, Pre-Trial, and Bob Wiley Detention Facility, and as an Administrative Sergeant for the Detentions Division. 
 

During his career, Ty has also served as a member of SERT the Sheriff's Emergency Response team, the Strategic Response Unit, and as an instructor for the Correctional Academy where he is the only Detentions instructor in several less-lethal defense and devices classes. As a member of the Sheriff's Department Honor Guard, he has traveled near and far to honor fallen law enforcement officers as well as participated in community events, funerals, retirements, flag presentations at events such as the memorial softball game between Visalia Police Department and Sheriff's Department that just took place, and was part of the California State Peace Officer's Memorial primary Honor Guard team in 2009 when Sergeant Greg Hernandez was honored.
