During the past 2 months the Tulare County Sheriff’s Department North End Property Crimes Investigation Unit and the Fresno County Sheriff’s Department Property Crimes Investigations Unit conducted a joint investigation into numerous armed robberies of convenience stores occurring in both Tulare and Fresno Counties along the Tulare/Fresno county line.

During the joint investigation, Detectives from both agencies developed information that identified both Oviedo and Boykin as the suspects responsible for the armed robberies.

On 7-31-14 The Tulare County Sheriff’s Department and Fresno County Sheriff’s Department along with the Fresno County Sheriff’s Department’s Air Unit Eagle 1 and the Reedley Police Department conducted search warrants in the areas of the 5000 block of S. Buttonwillow, Reedley and the 1000 block of E. Lingo, Reedley.

During the service of the search warrants, Boykin was located and arrested for the above crimes. Acting on further information collected during the service of the warrants, Fresno County Detectives were able to locate Oviedo in the Fresno area driving a stolen vehicle at which time he was contacted and taken into custody without incident.

Both Oviedo and Boykin were transported to the Tulare County Pre-Trial Facility where they were booked for the charge of armed robbery. Multiple armed robbery charges are expected to be filed by Fresno County against both Oviedo and Boykin with the additional charge of auto theft against Oviedo.
