Narrative:

On Thursday, July 27, 2017 at about 1 a.m., Tulare County Sheriff Deputies were dispatched to the 500 block of North Thompson in Tipton regarding a 22-year-old female that had been shot.

The victim was taken to a safe location and checked by EMS.  The victim's injury was non-life threatening.  She was ultimately transported to a local hospital for treatment and released at a later time.

UPDATE:  On 8-16-17 at 0630 hours, Property Crimes Detectives from the Tulare County Sheriff’s Office culminated their investigation into this shooting and identified the primary suspect as Ralph Villanueva Ortega, a 25-year-old resident of Tipton.  He was contacted and arrested during a traffic stop for assault with a deadly weapon and participating in a criminal street gang, which stemmed from the shooting on July 27, 2017. 

Subsequently, Detectives served a search warrant at his place of residency located in the 500 block of North Thompson Road in Tipton.  During the investigation, Detectives contacted and detained several adults and one minor child.  The following adults had active warrants and were also arrested. 

*Raquel Josephine Calderon, 24, of Tipton.

*Emilio Ortega, 27, of Tipton.

*Andrew Christopher Saldivar, 28, of Tipton. 

Ralph Ortega and the above listed subjects were all transported and booked at the Adult Pre-Trial Facility without incident.
