On 2-4-16 at 1723 hours, Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a residence in the 19100 block of Avenue 144 in Poplar regarding an assault with a deadly weapon investigation. 

The investigation revealed at approximately 1715 hours, the victim was confronted by a known suspect.  The suspect used a pipe to break a window on the victim’s vehicle while the victim was still seated within the vehicle.  The suspect again attempted to strike the victim with the pipe.  The victim did not sustain any injuries. Deputies obtained witness statements and collected evidence from the crime scene location. 

The suspect was contacted at a separate location nearby and taken into custody without incident.  He was booked at the Porterville Substation on charges of Assault with a Deadly Weapon.
