On Saturday 04/23/2016 at 2154 hours, Deputies were dispatched to the 8200 block of Avenue 272 in the Visalia area regarding a physical altercation.

Deputies arrived in the area at 2214 hours and contacted David Smith in the parking lot of where the incident took place. David told Deputies he saw a group of people arguing and fighting in the parking lot. 

David approached the group to attempt and de-escalate the situation. David was then assaulted by a male subject with a 4-foot metal pipe. David said he was struck three times by the suspect. The suspect fled the scene before deputies arrived.
