On Sunday, November 26, 2017 at 1942 hours, Detectives with the Tulare Area Gang & Narcotic Enforcement Team (TAGNET), conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle in the area of Ave 232 and Rd 180, Lindsay. The vehicle was occupied by three male subjects, one which was a documented gang member. Detectives observed open alcoholic beverages in plain view and conducted a further search of the vehicle. During the search, Detectives located a loaded .45 handgun inside the vehicle. The driver, Nicholas Smith, was ultimately arrested for possession of a loaded firearm in public. He was later transported and booked at the Porterville Substation without incident.
