On the above listed date and time, detectives with the Sheriff’s Tactical Enforcement Personnel (STEP Unit) and Narcotics Task Force served two search warrants at two different properties located in the 21000 block of Road 252, Lindsay. During the investigation Detectives located a large scale Marijuana operation. Suspects were found to be cultivating Marijuana under the guise of California’s Medical Marijuana law. Detectives also discovered the cultivators were growing their Marijuana in corn in fields for concealment. Detectives arrested 8 people, seized 3 firearms, 1,517 Marijuana plants, and 115 pounds of processed Marijuana.
If these marijuana plants would have been allowed to mature and yielded at minimum one pound of processed marijuana, the processed marijuana would have commanded a street value of $1,632,000.
An average outdoor Marijuana plant can consume approximately 5 gallons of water per day. Considering California’s current water crisis the total Marijuana plants seized were consuming approximately 7,585 gallons of water a day.
All suspects were taken into custody on their respective charges without incident.
