Donations accepted in memory of plane crash victims
At the request of the families of Deputy Scott Ballantyne and Pilot James Chavez, two accounts have been set up to receive donations: One for the Chavez family and one for the Deputy Scott Ballantyne Memorial Scholarship.

The Ballantyne family has funded this scholarship through the Tulare County Deputy Sheriff's Benevolent Association, in order to assist talented persons who are interested in making a career in law enforcement. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, that his memory be honored by a gift to the Tulare County Deputy Sherriff's Benevolent Fund for the creation of a POST Scholarship in Deputy Ballantyne's memory.

Checks can be mailed to or dropped off at the Tulare County Deputy Sheriff’s Association office, located at 704 W. Main St., Visalia, CA 93291. For more details, contact the DSA at 559-636-1199. The office is open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Checks should be written to the Tulare County Deputy Sheriff’s Benevolent Association with either “Chavez” or “Ballantyne” written in the memo line.

For information regarding flower arrangements, please call the DSA office at 559-636-1199.

The families are very thankful for all of the support which they have been given and also ask that their privacy be respected during this difficult time.
