Grand theft/Possession of stolen property

Suspect Arrested:  Alejandro Carrillo, 41 years old, resident of Delano

On 2-28-18 at 0624 hours, Deputies from the Tulare County Sheriff’s Office responded to the Lamanuzzi & Pantaleo Farms shop yard located near Highway 99 and Countyline Road in Delano.  Deputies were dispatched to a theft of a John Deere Tractor valued at $60,000. During the investigation, Deputies discovered video of the crime from a nearby business and with the utilization of GPS technology Deputies were able to discover the tractor was in Kern County.

Subsequently, Detectives from the Sheriff’s AG Crimes Unit took over the case and responded to a residence in the 10400 block of Brutton Street, in Delano.  They found the tractor and confirmed someone had started to strip it.  Detectives got information that a person was on the tractor and was seen walking into a house on the property.  Detectives later contacted a female resident who was very cooperative and said the tractor was not there earlier in the day.  Detectives were ultimately granted permission to enter the residence where they contacted a subject named Alejandro Carrillo who was identified as a suspect.  There were no other male adults inside the house, but Detectives believe there’s an accomplice to the crime.  The identity of that person remains unknown at this time.

The recovered property was processed by the Sheriff’s Office Crime Lab Unit and released to its rightful owner.  Detectives collected evidence, which included tools used to remove parts from the tractor, a cell phone and a 1999 Chevy truck that they believe was driven to the crime scene prior to the theft.  The suspect was arrested without incident and booked at the Adult Pre-Trial Facility in Visalia.  He is currently charged with grand theft of property and being in possession of stolen property.
