UPDATE: Missing Plainview Woman Found Dead in Imperial County

 

It is with great sadness to inform you the case of Missing Plainview Woman, Brittney Steenbergen, has been updated to a homicide investigation.

 

Sheriff Boudreaux has spoken to the family and expresses his condolences.

 

The suspect is Adel Hussein, 44.

 

On January 1, 2020, the Imperial County Sheriff’s Office responded to a body found in a rural area of their county.

 

This morning, a positive identification on the body was made. The body was determined to be Brittney Steenbergen.

 

Tulare County Sheriff’s Office Homicide Detectives, Imperial County Sheriff’s Office Homicide Unit as well as other local, state and federal law enforcement agencies in the region are actively working together to find and arrest Adel Hussein.

 

Sheriff Mike Boudreaux and Imperial County Sheriff Raymond Leora have been in contact with each other and are appreciative of the assistance from the law enforcement partners.

Update:

 

Around 4:30 p.m. on Dec. 31, the Tulare County Sheriff’s Office Emergency Dispatch received a 911 call from a child reporting that her mother, Brittney Steenbergen, was missing along with Adel Hussein, her estranged live-in boyfriend and father to her children.

Deputies responded to the home in Plainview to check the welfare of the four children and to find out more about the missing parents.

Steenbergen and Hussein were not at the home when deputies arrived. The Tulare County Sheriff’s Office Homicide Unit and Forensic Unit took over the investigation.

During the investigation, Detectives learned there was a possible domestic violence incident that had occurred. They also discovered that the family vehicle was missing: a dark blue 2007 Toyota RAV4 with California license plate number 5XNS883.

A “Be On The Look Out Broadcast” was sent out to all law enforcement agencies for Brittney Steenbergen, Adel Hussein and the vehicle.

Detectives received information that Hussein was seen in the community of Tipton on January 31 around 6 p.m.

Steenbergen was last seen at home on Dec. 28.

The Tulare County Sheriff’s Office has been receiving tips and is thankful for the assistance of the community.

Tulare County Sheriff’s Office is asking for the public’s assistance in locating 36 year old Brittney  Steenbergen,  who was last seen Saturday, December 28 2019 at her home in Plainview. 

She is described as being a white female adult, 5-feet, 8-inches tall, 200 pounds with brown hair.

Her disappearance is being investigated as suspicious and the homicide unit has taken over the investigation. 

Detective are also searching for Adel Hussein, who is her estranged live in boyfriend and father of Brittney’s 4 children, who are currently with family.  Adel is a person of interest in Brittney’s disappearance.

Hussein was last seen in the Tipton area around 6:00 p.m on Tuesday, December 31st.
He is known to frequent the Plainview and Porterville area.

Hussein is 5-feet, 4-inches tall, 200 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes. He was last seen wearing a grey hat with a “B” on it, black jacket, blue jeans and black shoes. He is known to drive a 2007 Toyota RAV4 license plate 5XNS883.
