On 10-5-16 at approximately 1300 hours, Detectives with the Tulare County Sheriff’s Office Violent Crimes Unit began an investigation into a reported kidnapping for ransom. Investigators were first contacted on October 5, 2016, in regards to the kidnapping of a Farmersville resident which occurred on September 27, 2016.

Shortly after the kidnapping, the suspects demanded a large sum of money from a Lindsay resident, threatening to kill the victim if they did not comply. During the course of the investigation, Violent Crimes Detectives identified one of the suspects as Gerardo Reyes from Glendale, Arizona. Detectives determined Reyes was a key participant in the kidnapping for ransom case.
