On February 1, 2016 at 8:40 p.m., Deputies were contacted regarding an overdue male hiker. The reporting party stated the male was in his mid-50’s had left to go hiking on the BLM Property near Skyline Drive in Three Rivers and was supposed to return by 7 p.m.
Deputies responded to the area and located the hiker’s vehicle at the entrance to the BLM hiking trail. Deputies searched the area on foot and were unable to locate the person. Deputies stayed in the area and approximately 7:15 a.m., Deputies made contact with the hiker. He reported he had been hiking and got lost when darkness set in. He continued and said he did not have a flashlight and said he stopped and waited until morning to try to hike out.
The hiker was uninjured and did not request medical treatment. TCSO Units cleared the area and the hiker returned back to the Valley.
