On 3-5-15 at 1042 hours, the Tulare County Sheriff's Department received a call of several shots fired in the Poplar area, and the caller stated the victim had been shot with an unknown caliber gun. Deputies responded to the area where a juvenile had been in the back yard of his residence, shooting at a target with a .22 caliber rifle. Several of the shots went over the target, and the victim was struck approximately half a mile away. The victim was transported to a local area hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The juvenile was taken into custody for the charge 246.3, negligent discharge of a firearm.
