Peace Officer Memorial is Wednesday

Ceremony to honor the fallen Wednesday, May 9, 2018


Everyone is invited to attend the Tulare County Peace Officer Memorial Ceremony at 9 a.m. Wednesday to honor Tulare County’s fallen officers who gave the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty.

This year’s ceremony will include bagpipes, a flyover, and the Neighborhood Church Worship Team Choir. 


In addition to a presentation by Tulare County Chairman Steve Worthley, a welcome message from Sheriff Mike Boudreaux and Roll Call by Woodlake Police Chief Mike Marquez, the keynote address will be given by Liz Gonzalez, reporter and anchor for the KMPH Fox 10 O’clock News.

Liz was raised in the Central Valley and graduated from Sanger High School. She later graduated from Fresno State with a degree in Mass Communication and Journalism. She began her broadcasting career while in college, reporting for Univision at KFTV-21. 


She worked almost two years at KVIA in El Paso, Texas, covering the military, immigration and education. She returned to the Central Valley, working for three years as the South Valley Bureau Chief at KSEE 24. She joined KMPH Fox 26 in 2006.


At KMPH, Liz reports on a wide variety of issues and also helps viewers save money. She’s a member of the National Association of Hispanic Journalists and Investigative Reporters and Editors. She’s says she’s proud to be bilingual and she encourages students to focus on their future.


Improvements to the monument
Thanks to the generosity of the community and donations from law enforcement personnel, the monument has $100,000 worth of new improvements, including memorial bricks, a water feature, landscaping, new walls and lighting.
