Suspect 1: Unknown Hispanic male using the name of Gabriel Robles.

On 06-09-17 at approximately 1400 hours, Deputies from the Sheriff's Visalia Substation were dispatched to an address in the community of Goshen regarding a Telephone Scam.  Upon arrival, Deputies learned the Victims were coaxed into believing their relative was detained in Nayarit, Mexico and bail money was needed. 

The Victims were persuaded to send two different currency transactions totaling $990 dollars via RIA Services from local Supermarkets; but, when the Suspect continued to demand additional monies, the Victims became suspicious of the caller and reported the incident to the Sheriff’s Office.

The Tulare County Sheriff’s Office is encouraging the public to use caution when receiving calls from strangers who request money.  Should you be a recipient of such calls, please report the incident to your local Law Enforcement Department prior to sending any currency through any requested means.
