Pixley Man Busted Dumping Dead Cattle, Stealing Meds from Dairies

Around October 15, 2019, TCSO Ag Crimes Detectives were called to a dairy in Pixley for someone dumping dead cattle on the property without consent of the owner. The suspect was said to have dumped about 12 dead cattle over a two month period.

Through their investigation, Detectives identified 53-year-old Luis Palomares of Pixley as the suspect. Detectives learned Palomares was running a cattle operation from his home in the 2500 block of N. Park in Pixley that violated Tulare County Zoning Ordinances.

On November 19, 2019, Ag Detectives along with Tulare County Resource Management Agency and California Department of Food and Agriculture Brand Inspectors, conducted a compliance check at the Palomares property. During a search of the property, Detectives found 155 unopened bottles of prescription veterinary medication, as well more than 1,000 empty medication bottles. The medications were prescribed to several local dairies and had been stolen. The unopened bottles were returned to their respective owners.

Palomares was arrested for possession of stolen property and booked into jail.
