On 07-28-19, at 11 p.m., Officers with the Porterville Police Department and Deputies with the Tulare County Sheriff’s Office were called to the area of Highway 190 and Highway 65 for a report of a body found in the Tule River. The person was identified as 35-year-old Scott Benedict of Porterville. 

Detectives with the Tulare County Sheriff’s Office, along with the Tulare County Sheriff’s Office dive team, responded to scene and recovered the body.

An autopsy was performed on July 30, 2019 and the cause of death was determined to be fresh water drowning. Anyone with information on this case, please contact Detective Kyle Kalender or Sgt.
