Update:
On 7-5-18 at approximately 1200 hours, Detectives from the Tulare County Sheriff’s Office SWAT Team, Property Crimes Unit and the Tulare Area Gang and Narcotics Enforcement Team (TAGNET) executed a search warrant at a residence located in the 1300 block of North Hall Street, in Visalia.
The search warrant was based on recent burglaries that occurred in the Mountain Communities of Camp Nelson, Alpine Village, Sequoia Crest, Ponderosa and Cedar Slope. During the investigation, Detectives learned that people previously connected to this case had been selling or trading stolen property for money or drugs at this location.
Upon arrival, Detectives approached the house and called out the residents. In total, six adults and several minor children who were occupants walked out of the house without incident.
Detectives secured the home and then searched it. They were able to locate and recover stolen property connected to some of the burglaries mentioned above. In addition, they found contraband believed to be Heroin and a large sum of US currency.
An adult male identified as Robert Ortiz (42 years of age) was arrested in connection with receiving stolen property, conspiracy to commit a crime and possession of a controlled substance for sale. Another adult, Daniel Scofield (26 years of age) was also arrested for an outstanding warrant. Both suspects were later transported and booked into custody at the Adult Pre-Trial Facility, in Visalia.
In total so far, Detectives have been able to recover stolen property valued at $15,140. Further investigation is pending and they anticipate finding more property soon.
