Residential burglary, Possession of burglary tools, Possession of stolen property

Brendon Lee Martin, 18, was arrested at 1600 hours on May 20, 2016 on an arrest warrant for residential burglary; possession of stolen property and possession of burglary tools.

Background:

At 1400 hours on May 9, 2016, Martin was pulled over for a traffic violation and was found to be in possession of a sawed-off shotgun in the area of Highway 198 and Lomitas Drive in the Lemon Cove area.

He was arrested without incident for possession of a sawed-off shotgun (Case #16-05901). Martin posted bail and was released from custody.

At the time of his arrest on May 9, the arresting deputy ran the shotgun’s serial number but it didn’t come back as stolen. Later, through a program with the ATF, called eTrace, the serial number was traced back to its owner, the victim of the residential burglary on April 27 in the 30300 block of Sierra Sunrise in the Exeter area where items were stolen including a shotgun (case #16-05340).

A warrant was issued on May 18, 2016 for Martin’s arrest for a residential burglary on Feb. 24 on the 30600 block of Mehrten Drive (case #16-02430) during which several recreational vehicles were stolen.

At 1600 hours on May 20, Detectives from the Gang Violence Suppression Unit located Martin driving in the area of Highway 198 and Road 217 in the Exeter area. He was stopped and was arrested on the warrant without incident.

He was also charged with possession of burglary tools and possession of stolen property (stolen shotgun Case #16-05340).
