On 05/23/16 at approximately 1237 hours, Deputies from Pixley Substation conducted a traffic stop of a vehicle with expired registration tags.  During the traffic stop, the suspect provided multiple names and dates of birth.  The suspect was detained and when Deputies attempted to place the suspect into a patrol vehicle, the suspect became combative. 

During the altercation the suspect kicked and choked a Deputy.  The suspect continued to resist and fight Deputies until he was placed into restraints and secured into a patrol unit.  The suspect continued to be combative.  It was later discovered the suspect had an active Felony warrant and Parole violations.

Suspect in custody: Carlos Chavez (34 years old) from Earlimart.
