On 12-22-2016 at 0142 hours, Deputies with the Tulare County Sheriff’s Office attempted to contact a subject on a bicycle for an infraction violation in the area of Myrtle Avenue and Court Street in Visalia.

The subject refused to stop and fled the area. Shortly afterward, additional Deputies were in the area of Bridge Street and Sequoia Avenue and located the subject. Deputies attempted to detain the subject but he continued to flee.

The subject was riding his bicycle and turned into an alleyway near the 200 block of Sequoia Avenue. As the subject attempted to leave his bicycle, he was inadvertently struck by the deputy's patrol car. 

The subject was subsequently identified as 36-year-old Leo Bennett from Visalia and was found to have three felony warrants and one misdemeanor warrant out of Tulare County. He was also found to be in possession of a controlled substance and burglary tools.

Bennett was transported to Kaweah Delta Medical Center and treated for a fractured arm and leg. He was subsequently arrested for his felony warrants and is currently in custody with the Tulare County Sheriff’s Office.
