Tulare County Sheriff Mike Boudreaux began his second term in office, on Jan. 3, 2019, as he was sworn in by the Honorable Gary Paden at Sheriff’s Headquarters.
Sheriff Boudreaux thanked family, friends and colleagues for attending the special ceremony. He said that as he prepared his notes before the ceremony, he was surprised by the magnitude of what the department has accomplished during his first term in office, including the following:
- State-of-the-art new headquarters
- $66 million jail being built in Porterville
- $44 million jail being planned north of Visalia
- New Sheriff’s logo
- New airplanes
- drones
- K9s in the jails
- New property and evidence building
- Body cameras in patrol and in the jails
- No. 1 Search and Rescue Unit in the nation
- Getting ready to roll out a new Sheriff’s Office App
- Took over boats from the parks department
- Created a media unit for transparency
- Dep. BuzzBee, an anti-bullying campaign
- Almost 1,000 personnel
