City: Strathmore

On Monday, 9/30/19, TCSO Deputies were called to two homes in Strathmore to investigate a social media post that was placed on Snapchat. The post did not specifically target one school in Tulare County. However, it showed a picture of several guns and included a message that threatened school violence and encouraged others to join in.
Deputies went to the home of two kids who shared the post, but who are not suspects, and began an investigation. At this point, it is not known where the original Snapchat post came from, but Detectives have determined it is a hoax and there was never a direct or credible threat to the safety of any school in Tulare County.
Threats of any kind, whether online or in another format, are taken incredibly seriously by the Tulare County Sheriff's Office. They are not a joke. Sheriff Boudreaux wants to remind the public that if you are caught making a threat like this, you will face the consequences. Tulare County children have a right to feel and be safe in the schools they attend. Anyone who jeopardizes their safety, whether joking or not, will be prosecuted.
Anyone with information about this case or any threats being made is asked to call the Tulare County Sheriff’s Office at 559-733-6218 or 1-800-808-0488, or anonymously at tcso@tipnow.com, or by text or voicemail at 559-725-4194.
