This case is now being investigated as a homicide.  The victim, identified as 20-year-old Jose Bolanos of Delano, was pronounced deceased on 8/18/17.

On 8/13/17 at approximately 1429 hours, Deputies from the Porterville Substation were dispatched to the 800 block of East River Avenue regarding gunshots.  Upon arrival, they learned a 20-year-old Hispanic male had received a gunshot wound the upper body and was taken to an area hospital for medical attention.  Violent Crimes Detectives were called out to assume the investigation.
