On Tuesday, April 25 2017 the Tulare County Sheriff’s Department completed an autopsy on Mary Doris Stief who was found deceased on April 24, 2017 at her residence in Tulare. During the autopsy, the cause of death was ruled as a life-ending cardiac event precipitated by the altercation with the suspect.

Suspect: Bernardo Renova, 19 years old, Resident of Tulare
On Monday, April 24, 2017, Deputies with the Tulare County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to the 100 block of West Addie Avenue in Tulare in regards to numerous prowler calls. Deputies arrived on scene and while checking the area, the above listed suspect, Bernardo Renova, exited a residence near that location. Deputies detained the suspect and while checking on the safety of the homeowner, deputies located the victim, Mary Doris Stief, deceased.
Violent Crimes Detectives responded to the scene and deemed the case to be a homicide. An autopsy is scheduled for later today for an official cause of death. The suspect was arrested and later booked at the Adult Pre-Trial Facility.
