On 7-26-16 an autopsy was conducted on the victim and the cause of death was determined to be exsanguination due to a penetrating gunshot wound to the head/neck.

On 7-24-16 The Tulare County Sheriff’s Department positively identified the victim in this case as Manuel Christopher Acosta, 35 years old, out of the Bakersfield area.
The official cause of death is still pending an autopsy scheduled for later this week.

On 7-22-16 at approximately 2245 hours, Tulare County Sheriff’s Deputies were dispatched to the area of Highway 190, a quarter mile east of Road 284, in Porterville, regarding a gunshot wound victim. Upon their arrival, they found the victim in his vehicle deceased from an apparent gunshot wound.
Violent Crimes Detectives were called to the scene to take over the investigation.
An autopsy is scheduled to determine the exact cause of death. His name will be released after notification of next of kin is complete.
