Suspect: Dustin Drennen (28 year old, resident of Tulare/Visalia)

Dustin Drennen is in an area hospital. He is currently in stable condition and being treated for non – life threatening injuries. We will make a photo available once he is released from the hospital and booked in our jail.

Original news release:

One of our deputies was involved in an officer involved shooting Saturday, Aug. 27, 2016.

He initiated a traffic stop in the area of Avenue 228 and Road 36 north of Waukena and west of Tulare at 1215 hours. During the traffic stop, there was an assault on the deputy which resulted in him discharging his weapon, injuring the suspect.

The suspect was taken to an area hospital by ambulance and is in stable condition. He is in custody with charges pending.

At the request of Sheriff Mike Boudreaux, the Tulare Police Department has been asked to investigate the incident. As per protocol, the officer has been placed on paid administrative leave.

 
The deputy has worked for the Tulare County Sheriff’s Office for six years. He is assigned to patrol out of Headquarters. He was treated for minor injuries at an area hospital and released
