           Victim: Brandy Dolores Parra, 34 years of age, resident of Tulare

            Suspect: John Brown, 31 years of age, resident of Tulare

On 6-16-16, an autopsy was conducted on the victim Brandy Parra and the cause of death was determined to be ligature strangulation. John Brown remains in custody and has been formally charged with murder.

On 6-15-16 at approximately 0830 hours, Deputies with the Tulare County Sheriff’s Office responded to the 22500 Block of Munson Road in Tulare in regards to an unresponsive 34-year-old female. Upon arrival, deputies located the unresponsive female who was determined to deceased. The death was quickly determined to be suspicious and the scene was secured. 

Detectives with the Tulare County Sheriff’s Violent Crimes Unit responded to the scene and took over the investigation. During the course of the investigation detectives ruled the death to be a homicide.

Detectives subsequently arrested John Brown who was living with the victim at the time of the murder.

An autopsy is pending to determine the official cause of death and remains an ongoing investigation.
