Life Insurance

Group Term Life Insurance

The County of Tulare provides all benefit eligible employees with Basic Life Insurance and Accidental Death and Dismemberment coverage. The policy will pay double the policy's value in the event that the insured dies as a result of an accident.

The plan includes General Global Assistance Plan which provides benefits when traveling 100 miles or more from home. The plan will help with locating medical care, evacuation/repatriation, emergency credit card, ticket or passport replacement, and missing baggage assistance.

This plan also provides a living benefit option if you are diagnosed with a terminal illness expected to result in your death. You also have the option to convert your coverage to an individual policy if you leave the County.

Beneficiaries

Your beneficiary is the person to whom benefits are paid in the event of your death. It is important to name your beneficiaries to ensure that any benefits payable at your death are left to the intended survivors. You may name more than one beneficiary and specify the percentage that each beneficiary is to receive. Keep in mind, if you are married, your spouse may have a legal interest in benefits payable at your death. A beneficiary designation may be subject to challenge if it will result in your spouse receiving less than his or her share of that portion of the benefit that is considered community property.
